Chaney’s Bull Roast Raises Nearly $100,000 for Chaney Cares’ Non-Profit Partners
Author: Madison Sloan
October 15, 2022 was the perfect sunny day to gather for Chaney’s 43rd Annual Back Yard Bull Roast. The event took place at Chaney’s Waldorf, MD Concrete Plant and raised funds to support their philanthropic entity, Chaney Cares. With over 800 tickets issued, 85+ sponsors, and 100+ volunteers, this year’s Bull Roast was surely one to remember.
Guests enjoyed incredible pulled pork, brisket, and homestyle sides from Mission BBQ alongside slow-cooked ribs and hotdogs grilled by Chaney employees, fresh oysters from Thompson Seafood, and delicious donuts from Sandy Pony Donuts. Volunteers served draft beer, Calvert Brewery seltzers, and wines from local vineyards.
This year’s Bull Roast featured entertainment and fun for all ages. Adults and children alike participated in riding the mechanical bull, jumping on the inflatables, taking a spin on the trackless train, getting face paintings and airbrush tattoos, and sliding down the giant inflatable aircraft carrier. Live performances by the local band, Peterbuilt, and the Maryland-raised Nashville Country Star, Sam Grow, kept guests moving and grooving all afternoon.
As always, the gambling attractions were some of the Bull Roast’s most popular stations. The roulette table and big 6 wheel enticed quite the crowd, and numerous attendees purchased 50/50 raffle tickets and pull tabs. The annual silent auction featured over 40 donated items such as a Blackstone grill, sporting game tickets, and golf outings.
Together, the Bull Roast sponsorships, tickets, and silent auction raised nearly $100,000. The proceeds from this fundraiser will support Chaney’s philanthropic initiative, Chaney Cares. Through the Chaney Cares program, the company has partnered with four main non-profits where funds from the Bull Roast will be distributed: Boys & Girls Clubs, Farming 4 Hunger, Habitat for Humanity, and Raising a Reader.
