Founded in 1962 by Eugene “Babe” Chaney, every member of the Chaney Enterprises team is Built on Passion. Chaney is passionate about providing ready-mix concrete, sand, stone, and gravel to our customers throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern regions by land, sea, and rail. From our headquarters in Gambrills, Maryland, we operate over 100 ready-mix concrete plants and more than a dozen sand and gravel facilities.

Our story
Chaney Enterprises was Built on Passion by Eugene Chaney, Sr. in 1962. The business started as a one-truck operation in Southern Maryland and has transformed into a leading construction materials supplier.
Eugene embodied a tireless work ethic, starting with making Christmas wreaths as a boy and hauling gravel in high school. In the 1940s, he established an excavating business and in the 50s, he established a road construction business. By the 60s, he shifted his focus to sand and gravel, laying the groundwork for Chaney Enterprises.
Under the leadership of Eugene’s grandson, CEO Francis Hall Chaney, III, Chaney Enterprises has prospered, expanding its footprint through strategic acquisitions and new market development.
Today, Chaney remains a proud leader in the construction materials industry, honoring Eugene’s legacy of hard work, family values, and a commitment to employees, customers, and the community. Many Chaney family members continue to contribute, serving in various capacities within the company.
