Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) recently welcomed their first class of students to the brand-new Clauson Center for Innovation and Skilled Trades on their Arnold, MD campus. Chaney Enterprises’ new philanthropic initiative, Chaney Cares, provided $250,000 to support construction of the Clauson Center project.
Anne Arundel Community College was recently named the number one community college in the country. The Clauson Center addresses the growing need for skilled trade workers in our community and helps more people establish themselves in rewarding careers. The Clauson Center also features a “Chaney Lab,” made possible through the leadership of the Chaney Cares program.
The 12,000 square foot facility features six inaugural programs: electrical, forklift operator, HVAC, plumbing, welding, and finished carpentry. In the future, the building has the potential to be expanded to reach 36,000 square feet and is expected to train approximately 950 students per year by its third year of operation.
“Skilled trade positions are the most difficult positions to fill in the United States and are vitally important to our economic prosperity and standard of living,” said Kristen Krall, Chaney Cares Coordinator. “The need for tradespeople is significant in Anne Arundel County. Chaney Enterprises is proud to support AACC, with the goal to fill critical gaps in the career and occupational training opportunities in our region.”
