News - Chaney Drivers Take Home Championships: Aggregate Delivery Professionals Sweep Category in MMTA Roadeo

Chaney Enterprises made a strong showing in the Maryland Motor Truck Association Truck Roadeo on June 14, winning the top three spots in the dump truck competition.

Taking First Place was Clyde Oglesby, followed by Tommy Kendall in Second Place and Tyrone Brown in Third Place. All three Aggregate Delivery Professionals work out of the Waldorf Aggregate Facility. The Chaney team members competed with more than 50 professionals from various companies in Maryland. This is the second year Oglesby has won the dump truck championship.

“Clyde, Tommy and Tyrone represent the level of excellence as delivery professionals we strive for at Chaney Enterprises,” said Gerhard Davig, trucking manager, CE Operations Team.

Delivery professionals are scored on three levels. First they are interviewed on their knowledge and compliance of road and highway safety. Next, drivers must pass a pre-trip inspection of a vehicle which has been altered to be unsafe, requiring the participants to cite those safety deficiencies. The last phase of the roadeo encompasses driver skill and space management on a driving range with several obstacles and challenges. Those receiving the highest combined score win the competition.

Chaney Enterprises conducts training throughout the year and holds a roadeo during its annual spring employee picnic, giving delivery professionals opportunities to continually practice skills and test knowledge.
