News - Chaney Enterprises Delivery Pros Awarded at 2011 Maryland State Truck Driving Championship
Delivery professionals from Chaney Enterprises gave their best, winning top awards at the Maryland State Truck Driving Championships in Timonium on June 11.
Chaney Enterprises aggregate delivery professional (ADP) Tyrone Brown took first place and ADP Susan O’Steen third place in the dump truck division.
Taking second place in the concrete mixer division was Concrete Delivery Professional (CDP) Mike Jordahl from the Hollywood plant, followed CDP Lamont Hopkins of the Annapolis plant.
“Each year Chaney Enterprises consistently sends top performers to the driving championships. We believe our CDPs and ADPs represent our industry’s best,” said David Williams, fleet and operations manager for Chaney Enterprises.
More than 100 drivers from across the state competed on Saturday. Brown and O’Steen were among six drivers in the dump truck division. Jordahl and Hopkins competed against eight concrete mixer drivers.
The truck driving competition consists of three phases. Drivers must execute driving maneuvers along a complicated field course that simulates conditions frequently encountered on highways across the country. Next the drivers must successfully complete a pre-trip inspection on a specified vehicle; then, drivers are tested on their knowledge of safety regulations.
Preparation and participation for this event is an example of the high priority that Chaney Enterprises places on excellence in training and safety practices.
