News - Chaney Receives Three ACI Maryland Chapter Awards for Outstanding Concrete Projects

Chaney Enterprises is honored to announce it has been awarded three American Concrete Institute (ACI) Maryland Chapter Awards. These accolades recognize Chaney’s commitment to excellence and innovation in concrete design and construction across Maryland.

Under Armour Global Headquarters and Stadium, Baltimore, MD

Chaney Enterprises won the Miscellaneous Category award for the Under Armour Global Headquarters and Stadium project. This 455,000 square-foot development included over 2,000 cubic yards of concrete, including 600 yards of Self-Consolidating concrete. This type of concrete is known for its self-leveling properties, facilitating a flawlessly smooth finish throughout the stadium area and track and field facilities. The project’s sustainable construction practices are underscored by the use of 1L cement in the concrete mix design, which contains 5 to 15% limestone and offers a significant reduction in carbon footprint—up to 10% compared to traditional cement. The Under Armour Headquarters project stands as a testament to Chaney Enterprises’ commitment to both quality and sustainability in construction.

Noah Hillman Parking Garage, Annapolis, MD

Chaney Enterprises was awarded in the Mid-Rise Building Category for the Noah Hillman Parking Garage. This new 183,000 square-foot garage, commissioned by the City of Annapolis, boasts an expansion of parking capacity from 425 to 590 spaces with enhanced accessibility and functionality. The project included 3,600 cubic yards of concrete with a 50% slag mix and an additional 4,500 yards with a 25% slag mix, reflecting a strong commitment to sustainable construction practices. Features of the garage include gateless entry and exit, smart technology for streamlined payment, and nine electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, including six Level III “fast” chargers. The garage is designed to achieve net-zero energy consumption, with 594 solar panels generating 281 kWh of electricity, setting a new standard for urban infrastructure sustainability.

Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum Welcome Center, St. Michael’s, MD

Chaney Enterprises was recognized in the Decorative concrete Category for the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum Welcome Center. This project, located in St. Michael’s, MD, showcased Chaney’s expertise in Decorative concrete solutions, blending aesthetic appeal with structural integrity. The Welcome Center project highlights the versatility and importance of concrete in creating attractive, functional, and environmentally friendly spaces.
