Chaney Enterprises has won its eighth consecutive workplace quality award, once again joining an elite group of companies that place a priority on their employees through policies and best practices that deliver outstanding service for their customers.
A total of 62 employers will be recognized for their commitment to building excellent places to work. The awards event, set for June 10 in Bethesda, Md., is anticipated to have approximately 250 business executives in attendance, primarily from Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
Chaney is the only concrete and aggregate supplier in the region to be recognized.
In addition to winning the Alliance for Workplace Excellence (AWE) Seal of Approval, the family-owned company will be honored with the AWE Health & Wellness Seal of Approval for its employee health benefits program and the AWE EcoLeadership Award, recognizing companies employers that are leaders in creating environmentally sustainable workplaces.
In making the selection, the judges noted Chaney’s supportive corporate culture and management practices, family and employee-friendly policies and practices, strong employee health and wellness initiatives, comprehensive growth and learning opportunities, and corporate social responsibility and employee volunteerism.

Chaney joins only 31 other companies to earn the AWE Health & Wellness Seal of Approval, which recognizes companies for promoting professional fulfillment and personal wellness at work, home and in the community.
All Chaney employees receive a comprehensive and affordable wellness program and Chaney Enterprises pays 80 percent of an employee’s health benefit. The company also covers another 50 percent of out-of-pocket costs for employees who participate in the Wellness Program and Health Assessment.
Companies nominated for the awards undergo a rigorous assessment process led by an independent review panel of business professional and master’s and Ph.D. level students in the fields of business, industrial and organizational psychology, human resources, environmental science, public health and diversity and inclusion.
The theme for this year’s event is “Workplace Excellence and Employee Engagement.” The awards luncheon will feature a keynote address by Dr. Linda Henman, President of Henman Performance Group and the author of “Challenge the Ordinary,” “Landing in the Executive Chair,” and “The Magnetic Boss” among other works. Award-winning journalist Doreen Gentzler from NBC4 will be the event’s emcee.
