On October 23, 2021, Chaney’s Back Yard Bull Roast returned to their usual stomping grounds at their Waldorf Concrete Plant – and the event returned with a BANG! With over 750 tickets issued, 85+ sponsors, and 100+ volunteers, the 42nd Annual Bull Roast was our most popular event yet!
Along with incredible pulled pork, brisket, and homestyle sides from Mission BBQ, attendees thoroughly enjoyed our pit-roasted ribs cooked by Chaney employees, fresh oysters from Thompson Seafood, and delectable donuts from Sandy Pony.
Furthermore, ticketholders and sponsors delighted in terrific live performances by John Luskey and Sam Grow. Adults and children alike participated in the apple pie baking competition, inflatable obstacle course, axe throwing, face painting and giant alligator slide. As always, the gambling attractions were a “big hit.” The roulette table and big 6 wheel attracted quite the crowd, and numerous folks participated in purchasing 50/50 raffle tickets and pull tabs. Guests enjoyed participating in the annual silent auction as well.
Together, the Bull Roast sponsorships, tickets, and silent auction raised $115,000. The proceeds from this fundraiser will support Chaney’s new philanthropic initiative, Chaney Cares. Through the Chaney Cares program, the company has partnered with four main non-profits where funds will be distributed: Boys & Girls Clubs, Farming 4 Hunger, Habitat for Humanity, and Raising a Reader.
Chaney Cares is Chaney Enterprises’ unique approach to charitable giving for their people, their environment, and their community. In their community, Chaney Cares seeks to break the poverty cycle and build strong family foundations through education, employment, and homeownership. In order to achieve this, Chaney Cares has created strategic partnerships with local and national non-profit partners. We look forward to continuing to make a meaningful difference in our communities!
