Jan Holt, Chief Customer Officer at Chaney Enterprises, was recently honored by the Maryland Ready Mix Concrete Association with a “Heavy Hitter” award. Each year MRMCA members are recognized for their contributions and accomplishments that go above and beyond in helping to advance the use of sustainable concrete. The winners receive concrete baseball bats.
Holt has worked tirelessly over the past eight years to promote and grow the ready mix concrete industry in Maryland. This includes working with the Maryland General Assembly to promote legislation that seeks to limit dangerous light-weight combustible wood construction in low to mid-rise residential buildings.
Her work in the industry garnered attention from senior state officials, and she was invited to become a member of the Maryland General Assembly’s 21st Century School Facilities Commission. The Commission has been tasked with reviewing school construction policies and ensuring the state is using the most forward thinking and innovative approaches.
Holt’s efforts don’t stop at Chaney, as she currently sits on the Southern High School’s Business & Community Advisory Board, where she works with students on career path guidance, developing their portfolios, writing resume and learning interview skills.
“We are all proud of Jan’s accomplishments, hard work and passion for growing and raising awareness in the industry about the value and importance of concrete as a building material,” said MRMCA Executive Director Tom Evans.
Additionally, Holt was recognized by Evans for her service and efforts serving as MRMCA president during 2015 and 2016 - the first woman to hold the position of president in the history of the MRMCA.
