On April 24, 2005, Chaney Enterprises participated in the March of Dimes WalkAmerica campaign. As active participants in this organization, Team Chaney fundraised over $1000.00, of which the Chaney Foundation will gladly match by 100%. This donation totaling over $2000.00 will help fund research and ultimately prevent the effects of premature births. Our fundraising efforts were very extensive this year including a company wide “Blue Jeans for Babies” Day, a Bracelets for Babies campaign, as well as individual payroll deduction donations. These fundraisers were very well received throughout the company and eventually led us in our last effort of manning a spirit station during the walk. We had over 15 people including family and friends supporting the walkers as they passed our Luau themed station. At the station, the walkers were greeted with sounds of the Caribbean, decked out with leis and colorful tattoos and were given a fruity bon voyage beverage to drink on the way to the finish line. All in all, the event was a huge success for all involved.
Even though this annual event has come to a close, it doesn’t mean that the fight stops here until the next walk. The statistics of prematurity in our nation is overwhelming, and it is steadily increasing. One out of every eight babies in the U.S. is born prematurely, some so tiny they can't even cry. If they could, it would be for your help. So please… continue to make every step count...
