The Chaney Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Chaney Enterprises, awarded $264,000 in grants to non-profit organizations in 2012.
Seeking to improve the quality of life in Southern Maryland, and Maryland’s Eastern Shore, the Chaney Foundation provides grants to charitable 501c(3) organizations in Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Prince George’s, St. Mary’s and Caroline counties. Recipients are organizations that support five areas: children and youth; arts, culture and history; education; health care and health education; and the environment.
This year’s recipients from Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties were: Banneker Elementary School, the Alzheimer’s Association, Calvert County Day School of Calverton, Charles County Children’s Aid Society, Charles County Public Library, Civista Health Foundation, Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center, Friends of Jefferson Patterson Park, Historic Sotterley, JP Ryon Elementary School, Lifestyles of Maryland Foundation, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Piney Parish, St. Peter’s Church School, St. Mary’s Soil Conservation District, Maryland Soil Conservation District Envirothon, College of Southern Maryland Foundation, Zonta of Southern Maryland, Medstar St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary, United Negro College Fund, Southern Maryland Women’s League Foundation, Dr. Samuel A. Mudd Foundation and the Community Foundation of Southern Maryland.
Recipients from Annapolis and Anne Arundel County were: Anne Arundel Community College Foundation, Anne Arundel County Trust for Preservation, Bay Area Community Church, Boy Scouts of America, Davidsonville Elementary School, Key School, Ruritan Club of Lothian, Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, Annapolis Tapestry Project, Christ Episcopal Church, Dare to Care and the Community Foundation of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County.
